Barbara Stephenson
About The Artist

All our products are hand made by Barbara Stephenson at her home in Springwood in the Lower Blue Mountains, west of Sydney NSW Australia.

Barbara has been working with glass for over twenty years and continues to create stunning hand made pieces in her studio at Springwood.

Her love of glass started during a trip to Europe over twenty years ago where she fell in love with the amazing leadlight windows in the various cathedrals.

Over the last eight years, kiln formed glass art (fused and slumped glass) has been the main focus of Barbara’s works including pieces based on natural themes such as Marine Platters, Rockpool Bowls, Wave Platters, Whirlpool Bowls and Drought Bowls.  The bulk of these pieces have been sold to overseas tourists and now her work is scattered all over the world. This includes the supply of a number of platters to the Austrade Office in Singapore, to international conferences held in Sydney.

Barbara has now moved into the world of Dichroic Glass creating beautiful and unique jewellery using this ever evolving medium.  Her recently developed technique has proven to be a huge success with a large number of items being sold, but each one totally unique.  These make excellent gifts and all exhibit the creative flair and attention to detail that is inherent in every one of Barbara’s works.
